Winter Nissan Outdoor Games
Saturday, 07 March 2009

For the third time, a justACRO team member took part in one of the most exciting multi-sport events, the Nissan Outdoor Games. The concept is simple: 5 teams, 5 sports and 5 days to create a 5 minutes movie! This was the second winter edition, held in Chamonix which is of course a prefect location for all the sport arts like freeride skiing and snowboarding, mountain climbing, base-jumping, paragliding and speed-riding. Compared to the summer edition, the job is even a bit tougher, not just because of the winter conditions, but also the days are much shorter and there is simply less time to shoot, so the teams have to be time effective and the storyboard well planned.

Pál joined the team Insomnia, first of all to do speed-riding together with the Ueli Kestenholz and some paragliding acro action as well. The Team just got organized together in the last minutes, some athletes like Pál joined in the last days, and there was no well prepared storyboard, the plan was just simply to put the sports together, link them with some nice, funny connections, just focus on the action itself and enjoy this challenging week. Ueli, Pál and the film crew made a great job and some great speed-riding images, probably the most spectacular ones on the event.

On Saturday, like last year, Pál took part in the "worlds highest airshow" as well which consists of wingsuit base jumping and paragliding acro. Unfortunately due to the extremely strong high-altitude wind the pilots could not jump from 4500 meters as it was planned, to fly in front of the terasse of Aiguille du Midi (3842m), so instead they dropped at 3800 meters to impress the public at the Aiguille middle station. Then in the afternoon another show was held at the busy ski resort of Grande Montets where at least 400 skiers gathered together to watch some of the best acro pilots and wingsuit flyers in the world.

The next edition of the Nissan Outdoor Games will be held this summer in July in Interlaken, Switzerland.

9th August 2008. „Fete de Geneve”

Half a million people crowded on the big celebration of Geneva. Everywhere around the lake the roads were closed just the mass was flowing on the streets enjoying the sunny afternoon and the attractions on the side of the lake. Pal and Gabor arrived on a helicopter with the last rays of the sun. They dropped from 1000 meters, opened their gliders and started their spectacular falling dance. The beautiful choreography was rewarded with big applause and ovation by the public. After the sunset huge fireworks put the crown on the day.

„This was our biggest show ever and I have to admit that we were keeping the fingers crossed because of the stress. Pal was hobbling to the helicopter still with his crutches but in the air he was still the same fit like always. J We have received a lot of positive feedback from the audience and we’re glad that our sponsors are more and more satisfied.” Gabor Kezi

Paranoia Acrobatix ,16-19 July – Pal is back!
Sunday, 20 July 2008

The second station of the World Cup Tour was the Paranoia Acrobatix in Zell am See. At this location the competitors have less altitude to perform maneuvers so they have to choose carefully which tricks to put in their program. Gabor also did a new maneuver combination, he finished on the 7th place.

Finally the moment has come: Pal and Gabor jumped out together from a helicopter in the final expression session. This was Pal’s first flight after his accident.

„It was an incredible feeling to be in the air again, to fly with Gabor and to see that the maneuvers still work perfectly after two months stop.” P.T.

Vertigo Swiss Riviera - JOKER
Thursday, 26 June 2008

This year’s first tournament was the Vertigo. It was the location of the first World Championship, now it’s part of the Aerobatics Paragliding World Cup Tour and still cosidered as one of the most important events in the acro scene. On Saturday there was a new concept in the competition (Open) where the judges scored the pilots live right after their run.

Gabor Kezi and Cyril Planton, the JOKER Team could step up to the podium on the 2nd place, and reached the 2nd position in the Open competition as well. This result is really outstanding because they had only one single training flight together before the first run.

Bad luck
Friday, 06 June 2008

On the 25th of May on a nice Sunday afternoon while training Pal Takats suffered an accident in Stechlberg, Switzerland by ground-spiralling over high-grass. He went too low, the wingtip caught the flowers and pulled him down...He broke his left ankle in the impact. A few hours later he passed through an operation to fix the injured bones (with 3 screws) and the blood circulation in the foot. Then he spent 4 more days in the hospital but now he is back home and feels much better. He is focusing only on a fast recovery to be able to return to the sport as soon as possible.

„Thanks for the selfness support of my girlfriend, family, friends and last but not least our sponsors, to help my way back.” P.T.
